Catechists are often looking for practical ideas they can put to use right away. A new collaboration between the National Community of Catechetical Leaders (NCCL) and Bayard USA’s Catechist.com aims to meet that need with a collection of short formation videos and downloadable resources designed for catechists, parish leaders, and Catholic educators.
The new online formation hub offers training in key areas of catechetical ministry, including the vocation of the catechist, lesson planning, engaging different learning styles, creative teaching methods, prayer, liturgy, and Scripture. Each video is accompanied by practical guides that can be used for personal formation, parish training, catechist certification, or small-group learning.
Among the featured topics are Called to Be Catechists, Designing and Teaching, Creative Learning Methods, Worship and Prayer, and Bible. The resources are intended to help catechists strengthen both their understanding of the faith and their ability to foster meaningful learning experiences for children, teens, and families.
“Today’s catechists need formation that is practical, engaging, and immediately applicable,” said John Roberto. “These videos and guides provide concrete tools that help catechists create meaningful learning experiences while nurturing faith and discipleship in their communities.”
Designed for use in parishes, schools, diocesan training programs, and leadership formation initiatives, the new resource hub will also include a coordinator’s guide to help local leaders implement the materials effectively.
The first set of formation resources are now available through Catechist.com and NCCL, providing catechists with accessible, practical support for their ministry and ongoing growth in faith.
